Lead Restoration Technician

About the Role
Join our field operations team as a Lead Restoration Technician. You'll be the on-site expert managing complex water damage, mold remediation, and fire restoration projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership ability to manage junior technicians, and excellent customer communication. You'll work across residential and commercial properties, making critical decisions about restoration strategies and ensuring projects stay on timeline and within scope.
Role Overview
We're seeking an experienced Lead Restoration Technician to manage restoration projects from inception through completion. You'll lead a team of 1-2 technicians, coordinate with third-party contractors (plumbers, electricians, roofers), and ensure customer satisfaction. Your expertise in water extraction, structural drying, mold remediation, and fire damage restoration will be critical to our success.
Key Responsibilities
- ✓Manage 2-4 restoration projects simultaneously across residential and commercial properties
- ✓Lead and mentor junior technicians on job sites; provide technical guidance and training
- ✓Conduct detailed damage assessments and develop restoration plans with cost estimates
- ✓Operate and maintain advanced restoration equipment (dehumidifiers, air movers, HEPA filters, moisture meters)
- ✓Coordinate with general contractors, plumbers, roofers, and electricians to ensure seamless project execution
- ✓Document project progress with photos, moisture readings, and written reports for insurance adjusters
- ✓Manage inventory and order supplies; maintain company vehicles and equipment
- ✓Communicate daily with customers, management, and insurance companies regarding project status and findings
- ✓Ensure OSHA safety compliance, proper containment protocols, and biohazard handling on all sites
- ✓Identify upsell opportunities for additional services (air quality testing, preventative treatments)
Required Qualifications
- •5+ years of hands-on restoration experience (water damage, mold, fire, or combination)
- •IICRC certifications: WRT (Water Restoration Technician), ASD (Applied Structural Drying), and FSRT (Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician) or ability to obtain within 90 days
- •Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- •Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work at heights
- •Strong communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to homeowners and insurance adjusters
- •Proficiency with moisture detection equipment, mold assessment, and structural drying protocols
- •Ability to lead teams, make field decisions, and manage budgets
- •Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within Bergen County and North Jersey
Preferred Qualifications
- â—¦AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician) or mold assessor certification
- â—¦EPA Lead-Safe certification
- â—¦Experience with insurance claim documentation and communication
- â—¦Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- â—¦CDL Class B with air brake endorsement for driving restoration trucks
